Bar operator pulls out of plans for new Nottingham cocktail venue

Bar operator Arc Inspirations has pulled out of opening one of its Manahatta cocktail bars in Nottingham.

The proposed bar was set to create 100 jobs in the city, after Arc submitted a planning application to transform the Grade II former French Connection unit on Victoria Street.

However,  some 10 months since the planning application was submitted, Arc has now shelved the idea.

A spokesperson for Arc Inspirations said: “We have taken the decision to withdraw our application to open Manahatta on Victoria Street. Despite the support of the council and positive discussions with the Listed Buildings Team, there were some issues with the building’s listed status that we were unable to resolve.”

Despite the decision, Arc Inspirations has recently been successful in being granted planning permission for one of its BOX bars at 2-3 Thurland Street in Nottingham city centre.

The spokesperson added: “We’re disappointed not to be able to proceed with our plans, however we are looking forward to making our debut in Nottingham later this year with the opening of our award-winning Sports Bar concept, BOX. The new site on Thurland Street will create 100 jobs in the area, and we will continue to search for a suitable location in the city for Manahatta.”
