Commercial property agency NG Chartered Surveyors have landed a new prestigious management instruction.

NG Chartered Surveyors’ management department have been instructed by the University of Nottingham to manage the Castle Meadow Campus in Nottingham city centre.

The University of Nottingham completed a deal to buy the Castle Meadow Campus (former HMRC HQ) in late 2021. It comprises six three and four-storey office buildings and a dedicated health and wellbeing hub totalling 351,247 sq ft.

The site was acquired in 2021 by Blackstar Advisory acting on behalf of The University.

Tim Garratt, CEO of Blackstar said: “It was clear from the outset that this was a complex site with multi-layers and would need to be managed differently to a normal Campus. For that reason we sought a managing agent, and I was delighted to see NG appointed who I will continue to work with going forwards as the longer term strategy emerges.”

NG have also been retained to be the managing agents of Mowbray House, the 57,000 sq ft office building on the Campus, which is exclusively occupied by law firm Browne Jacobson.

The University is set to use the campus as a new city centre location for Nottingham University Business School to conduct teaching, research and partnership activity, enabling it to grow its postgraduate offer and increase collaboration with strategic partners. The move is expected to take a phased approach from 2025.

From late 2023, a home for Digital Nottingham will be established, providing a civic, research and innovation hub that will bring together researchers, businesses and communities to connect digital and data knowledge, skills and technologies to people and place-based challenges.

In a joint statement, NG director Jude Weston and associate director Charlotte Steggles, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with such a prestigious site and look forward to working closely with the University of Nottingham as the campus develops.

“We have been working hard with the University of Nottingham and Browne Jacobson with the aim of creating a seamless transition.”

Jason Phoenix, Castle Meadow programme director at the University of Nottingham, added: “We are delighted to partner with NG Chartered Surveyors as the appointed Managing Agents for Castle Meadow Campus. Their expertise and experience in commercial property management will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless development and operation of the campus. We look forward to working closely with NG and other stakeholders as we embark on our journey to establish Castle Meadow as a vibrant hub for education, research, innovation, and collaboration.”
