On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Paul Tallon

Fast-growing Midlands accountancy firm Cooper Parry has bolstered its deals team with the appointment of Paul Tallon as transaction services partner.

The experienced Tallon previously led transaction services for Azets in Birmingham and has held senior roles at Grant Thornton and BDO.

He will work alongside Timothy Mahapatra, head of deals at Cooper Parry.

Mahapatra said: “I’m delighted to have Paul onboard as part of the CP Deals team. His experience and knowledge, particularly of the Midlands market, will allow us to continue to grow our transaction services presence in the Midlands. His appointment considerably strengthens and broadens the expertise of our Transaction Services team working closely with Ed Gray who has been responsible for successfully growing our TS business in the Midlands to date. Paul joins at an exciting time for our Deals business and for the firm overall as we execute our bold growth strategy over the next few years.”

Tallon said: “I am thrilled to be joining CP at this hugely exciting time. The energy and passion to deliver for clients, the ‘can do’ attitude and bold vision makes CP a stand-out firm, which I cannot wait to be part of. The CP Deals team is very highly regarded in the market, and I am looking forward to working closely with Ed Gray and the team to achieve our ambitious plans.”

Elsewhere, full-service creative agency The Dairy has appointed a new digital marketing apprentice after securing five new clients since the start of the year.

Elise Quirk will work closely with the West Bridgford agency’s digital strategist Claudia Wright. Quirk is currently studying for her Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship through Nottingham College and brings previous agency experience to the role, alongside an in-depth knowledge of social and video.

She said: “I started my apprenticeship journey in 2022 but sadly, circumstances out of my control meant that I could not finish the qualification with my former employer.

“I didn’t want to give up on my apprenticeship though, and I contacted Nottingham College to see if they could find me the perfect match – somewhere where I could complete my qualification and have a bright future.”

Quirk added: “The Dairy really suits me and my personality.

“Everyone’s friendly, welcoming, and wants to do an honest job for their clients, while enjoying themselves at the same time. I think there’s definitely been a quirk of fate in me finding The Dairy – and I’m so happy to be here!”

Nigel Rowlson, managing director of The Dairy, said: “Elise is great and she brings real energy to the team.

“We’re fortunate to have her. She has the benefit of previous agency experience, while being able to learn from our own apprentice success story in Claudia – who has gone from apprentice to strategist in the space of 5 years.

“Hopefully this shows Elise that the sky’s the limit for her here, and that she has an exciting future ahead of her. And for us, it maintains our strategy of hiring and developing young talent – especially at a time when it’s difficult for young people to break into our industry.”
