Nottinghamshire care home set for major extension

Church Farm Care has been given the go-ahead to add a sizeable extension to one of its two dementia care homes in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.

Planning chiefs have given the Nottingham-based operator permission to add a first-floor extension and single-storey extensions to the side and rear of Church Farm Care Home in the former mining village.

Every bedroom at the home will become ensuite as a result.

Lucy Atkinson, director at Church Farm Care, said: “It’s important that we continue investing in our homes to build on the high-level of care we provide to those living with dementia. Ensuring all rooms at Church Farm Care Home at Cotgrave feature ensuites will give our family members greater independence and boost their quality of life which is always at the heart of everything we do.”

Work is also set to start this year at Church Farm’s Skylarks home in West Bridgford, where 30 independent living pods will be created in addition to amenities such as a hydrotherapy swimming pool.

Patrick Atkinson, director, said: “Our inspiration for our care homes comes from the Dementia Village in the Netherlands. Home to more than 150 residents, they are encouraged to be independent, visit shops, get their hair done and attend clubs, all onsite.
