Educational resources supplier reportedly set to axe 80 jobs

A leading supplier of physical and curriculum resources to the education sector could be about to axe 80 jobs at its Nottinghamshire base, reports suggest.

RM Resources is part of RM plc. It supports schools, teachers and pupils across the globe – from pre-school to higher education – as well as examination boards, central governments and other professional institutions.

The company opened its headquarters at Harrier Park, Hucknall in 2021. At the time, RM’s managing director Monique Louis described the 195,840 sq ft site as “a great, fit-for-purpose space that better serves our longer-term business needs and objectives.”

Now, Nottinghamshire Live has reported that 80 redundancies could be made at the firm, brought on by rising costs and a difficult market environment.

It is understood a consultation period has begun with affected staff.

RM Resources has declined to comment.

Harrier Park – part of a long-term joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Muse Developments – sits on surplus land next to the Rolls-Royce Aerospace supply chain plant off Watnall Road.

When RM’s colossal facility was completed in December 2020, Louis said the investment reflected the company’s “confidence in the long-term future of RM and our commitment to the Nottinghamshire area.”
