On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) has appointed new chief executive, Kevin Allen-Khimani, who will step into the role after the retirement of Kevan Liles this autumn.

Allen-Khimani is the current head of operations and services and has more than 20 years’ service at VAL.

He said: “It is so exciting to be given this opportunity to lead such a fantastic organisation. I have already had a tremendous career at VAL and have steadily developed my skills and experience. I intend to lead VAL to a better, more sustainable future – building on the existing strong foundations.”

Will Simister

Nottingham freight management software company, Forward Solutions, has expanded its team, welcoming graduate Will Simister to the software development team.

Simister recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a First-Class degree in Software Engineering.

He said: “Joining Forward Solutions whilst still at university was the best decision I made, it gave me the opportunity to learn their systems, and Forward Office so that now I have started working full time, I have been able to hit the ground running.

“Throughout my onboarding process with the company, the whole team has been fantastic in welcoming me, and making sure that I have everything I need to succeed. The training I have received has put me at ease I’m comforted knowing that I can ask any question without being judged, it’s a very open and positive working environment.

“I believe that gaining experience is key for this industry and having worked during my placement year and studies, I feel I have the confidence to do my job to the high standard Forward Solutions provides to its customers.”
