Shortlist revealed for East Midlands Business Masters 2023

TheBusinessDesk.com has revealed the shortlist for our East Midlands Business Masters 2023 – and tickets are now available for our Annual Dinner on Thursday October 19, from 6.30pm, at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham city centre.

The shortlist – derived from a record number of entries this year – will go forward to the awards evening, which will include key note speakers, a drinks reception, three-course dinner, entertainment and, of course, the Business Masters awards ceremony.

The judges

The judging panel this year consisted of: Jonny McPhee founder of headline sponsor Invictus Communications; Natalie Gasson-McKinley, development manager at the Federation of Small Businesses; Adam Pye, managing director at John Pye & Sons – a Nottingham-based family-run national company of auctioneers and valuers; Jade Martin, he property manager at Rushton Hickman, the Burton-based property consultancy, who was crowned Non-Executive Leader of the Year at our 2023 East Midlands Leadership Awards, held in Nottingham in March; Sam Scott, director at Northampton-based Panther Logistics, the two-person delivery specialists, which walked away with a double win after triumphing in the Large Business and Fast Growth categories at 2022’s East Midlands Business Masters Awards; and Dr Sukhi Ghuman, chairman and CEO of Octavian Group, whose UK arm won the Community Impact award at last year’s East Midlands Business Masters Awards.

Wherever there were conflicts of interest, our judges cast their vote for alternative entrants.

Sam Metcalf, Midlands editor at TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “We were overwhelmed by the sheer range and number of entries to the Masters this year – we received 165 entries. I’d like to personally thank all the judges for their time, knowledge and effort in picking their shortlist – and I look forward to meeting the cream of the business world in the East Midlands at the Crowne Plaza in October. Good luck, everyone.”
