Property company expands Midlands presence with new site acquisitions

Kidsgrove development in Staffordshire

Strategic Land Group (SLG) is broadening its presence in the Midlands, securing agreements for land promotion on four new sites.

The locations, spanning Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Leicestershire, have the potential to introduce over 300 new homes and approximately 440,000 sq ft of commercial area.

SLG is already promoting three other sites in the region, aiming to add around 130 homes in Stone, 125 properties in Market Drayton, and nearly 90 homes in Newcastle-under-Lyme, with all three sites being considered for housing allocations in upcoming local plans.

Paul Smith, managing director of SLG said: “We have seen considerable growth in our portfolio across the Midlands during the last 12 months as landowners seek to maximise the value of their land or diversify holdings that are no longer used for farming.

“The housing crisis has reached an acute level and it is more important than ever that councils and developers work together to build new homes in the right places. Failure to do so not only has a huge impact on the young and their aspirations to own their own home but also carries implications for economic growth, particularly in less prosperous areas.”
