Historic manufacturer set to call in administrators

A manufacturer and engineer of noise control products which can trace its origins back to 1890 is set to call in administrators.

Hodgson Acoustic Company, based in Old Dalby, Melton Mowbray has posted a notice of appointment to appoint an administrator through law firm Paris Smith.

The firm joined the IAC Acoustics global group of companies in 2018. A statement on its website reads: “Specialists in the industrial and power sectors of noise control, our design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities ensure we remain at the forefront of developing acoustic solutions for clients throughout the UK. We work to support the needs of UK manufacturing, industrial fabrication, power generation and power distribution, by creating safe working noise levels for employees, residents and the surrounding environment.”

In Hodgson Acoustic’s latest available accounts, made up to the end of 2021, directors said that the company’s margins had been “significantly” impacted by capacity issues, rising material prices and Covid.

The firm posted a loss of 194,611 that year, against a profit of £307,763 the in 2020. Over the course of the year, Hodgson Acoustic employed an average of 42 people.
