Architect secures trio of planning approvals

What the Breedon-on-the-Hill family home will look like

Architectural firm, Matthew Montague, based in Ashbourne, has obtained three planning approvals.

They are now preparing to commence work on three separate projects across the region.

In Mansfield, an old, deteriorated building will be replaced by three modern, sustainable structures. This project will involve relocating one business and creating new employment opportunities.

In Breedon-on-the-Hill, two agricultural Dutch barns will be replaced with two family homes. Architect Daniel Evans said that “securing planning permission took two years” but construction will now start in early 2024.

South Derbyshire District Council has granted planning approval for a meditation hall at the Grade II-listed Ashe Hall in Etwall, on behalf of the Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre.

CEO Matthew Montague said “All three projects are wonderful examples of the work across the East Midlands that we are privileged to be commissioned to undertake and to get planning permission for three schemes of this nature in the same week is
unprecedented. All three are unique and we are looking forward to seeing work getting underway, especially on the meditation hall at the Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre.

“It’s not every day you get asked to design a building like this, it’s the only facility of its kind in the UK and it’s been a fantastic project for the practice.”
