Plans for student accommodation at key city centre gateway

How the scheme could look

Plans have been revealed for a major student accommodation scheme next to a Nottingham city centre gateway hotel.

The car park next to the hotel could be turned into a 163-bed student development on the corner of Mansfield Road and Magdala Road. The scheme will include some 83 cycle parking spaces.

Proark is the owner of the site; the firm also owns the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel next door to the site. The plans are being backed by Eagle Rock Investments (ERI).

A planning statement reads: “ERI will continue as the development manager on the purpose-built student scheme and help develop the management solutions for both sites. We have been in dialogue with Nottingham Trent University in relation to modern requirements and will ensure that student welfare and increased amenity are at the forefront of the development.

“Both Proark and Eagle Rock Investments are committed to sustainable building techniques and will seek to create a modern building which excels in relation to design as well as delivering on a carbon neutral commitment.”
