Property firm gets go-ahead for new local centre

LSP, property development firm have received reserved matters approval for the Weldon Park Local Centre in Corby, Northampton.

Enabling work has commenced on site by Permission Homes and LSP aims to begin site work early next year,  with the current 31-week construction timeline targeting a completion by late summer 2024.

The development comprises a 4,500 sq ft convenience store leased to Sainsbury’s, an 1,800 sq ft café occupied by Esquires coffee, and a 900 sq ft fish and chip shop rented by Rumbles Fish & Chips.

Additionally, 900 sq ft is let to Golden Scissors, while a 5,100 sq ft Nursery space is available for lease through LSP Developments.

LSP’s managing director Ed Sutton said: “This scheme is testament to our tenacity and the intent of Persimmon Homes in wanting to get this scheme delivered for the many residents on the Weldon Park scheme. It’s great to have such anchors as Sainsbury’s and Esquires together with the other ancillary operators who will provide a range of offerings to serve the local population”

LSP’s procurement surveyor Jake Conkay said: “It’s great to finally get this one over the line in terms of planning, having procured the same through a testing market. I’m looking forward to seeing this one come out of the ground and become a vibrant Local Centre development.”
