M&A advisory firm expands into Midlands
Marktlink, the international mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory firm, is set to open a Birmingham office to service the city and Nottingham in the East Midlands.
The Midlands base will become the 13th in Marktlink’s network of international offices and the second UK location following the opening of an office in Manchester last year, led by managing partner Jonny Parkinson.
The company has also told TheBusinessDesk.com that it is considering a further office “close to Nottingham”.
Joe Moran has joined the company to head up the Midlands operations as managing partner, bringing with him 17 years of experience in corporate finance. He previously held positions at Deloitte, Jaguar Land Rover, and Rolls-Royce where he successfully led a wide variety of deals throughout his career in both advisory and principal capacities.
Moran said: “The acquisition or sale of a business is one of the most important events in an entrepreneur’s life. The opening of this new office will enable Midlands business owners to have access to our M&A expertise and a broad network of European investment opportunities to aid them in securing the best future for their business.
“The UK is an incredibly important M&A market, and I am very excited to lead Marktlink’s next phase of successful international expansion and support entrepreneurs in the region and beyond to fulfil their M&A ambitions.”
The opening of the UK Midlands office follows the most successful year in the company’s history. It achieved record results in 2022, with 2023 showing further growth to 150 transactions and ending the year with 250 employees. Marktlink is now active in 6 countries in Northwest Europe.
Luc Keltjens, partner at Marktlink Amsterdam who is heavily involved in the development of Marktlink’s UK presence, said: “We’ve experienced great success since opening our first UK office last year, and the demand from European companies looking to acquire UK businesses continues to grow. Business owners in the Midlands and wider in the UK will be able to utilise our international network of 50 deal teams across six countries to benefit from the increasing appetite for cross-border opportunities.
“With Joe’s extensive expertise and knowledge of how to best support entrepreneurs in the region, we are confident that he is the right choice to strengthen the competitive advantage of Midlands businesses. We look forward to continuing our success and expanding our position in the UK market.”
