Green light for 541-bed student scheme in Loughborough

How the scheme will look

A major new student development in Loughborough has been given the go-ahead by Charnwood Borough Council.

Fusion Students has go the green light to bring forward a nine-storey, 541-bed scheme on derelict brownfield land between the Grand Union Canal basin and Limehurst Avenue.

The new development will comprise two blocks housing en-suite rooms, social studios, studios, twodios, one-beds and duplexes.

It has been designed by Corstophine & Wright.

A planning statement that accompanied the application said: “The replacement scheme identifies the site’s constraints and offers a proposal that enhances and contributes positively to the vicinity, whilst respecting the urban grain.

“The client and the architect’s vision will ensure that the scheme is developed through responsive design that supports both the environment and surrounding area through its materials and adaptability.”
