Nottingham Rugby launches £50,000 crowdfunder to fix flood damage

The Bay has been severely affected by the floods

Nottingham Rugby Club is trying to raise £50,000 after its Lady Bay home was submerged in water during the recent flooding.

The club has launched a Just Giving page to raise the cash after the severe weather left damage to its pitches, clubhouse and training facility.

Nottingham Rugby’s home is right next to the River Trent, which has burst its banks in several locations over the last week following torrential rain across the region.

A statement from the club said: “The severe flooding of our site at Lady Bay has left damage to our pitches, clubhouse and training facilities. We urgently need financial help to enable us to reinstate our facilities to provide Championship Rugby matches, community training facilities and private events.

“Due to being on a floodplain, the insurance available to the club will not cover the costs incurred of the flooding. Hence why we are asking for extra financial help.

“We’re calling on the local rugby community to support us through these unprecedented times for the club. Your club needs you.”

As went to press, the crowdfunder had raised almost £12,000 through over 400 donations. To donate, click here.
