Time called on Nottingham pub as office plans revealed

The Ned Ludd

Nottingham could lose one of its city centre pub after plans were revealed to turn it into offices.

The Ned Ludd, which has been open for around 18 years, could be turned into offices if plans by PKL Investments get the go-ahead.

According to documents seen by TheBusinessDesk.com, the Friar Lane pub could turned into office space to be used by two unnamed businesses in the healthcare sector to operate from the Friar Lane site.

A planning statement says: “The proposals represent a positive re-use of an existing building that would not be detrimental to the amenities or function of existing retail uses.

“It has been demonstrated that there be would no adverse impacts of any significance upon matters of importance in respect of impact on the primary shopping area that might
otherwise outweigh the significant benefits that would arise, in particular maintaining and enhancing the vitality and vibrancy of the city centre.

“For the reasons set out, the overall planning balance weighs in favour of the application and should be supported by the local planning authority and therefore we request that planning permission is granted without delay.”
