On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Andrew Cockman

Lincoln-headquartered Streets Chartered Accountants has hired tax specialist Andrew Cockman.

Cockman is a chartered tax adviser and trust and estate practitioner who has focused on private client and trust related taxation throughout his career in accountancy, having worked in Big 5 accountancy practices, as well as other firms in the top 10.

Paul Tutin, chairman and managing partner at Streets, said: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the firm with his appointment as a tax partner within our tax practice and as a member of our private client team.

“With the expansion of our practice, it is important we can service the needs of our clients and in particular the requirement for more specialist high-end tax advice and planning. Andrew will therefore be a great asset to our team and clients alike. We are very fortunate to have secured his appointment.”

Cockman added: “I was particularly attracted to the role with Streets as it has a progressive approach and it provides me with the opportunity to work with like-minded private client tax specialists in a supportive and entrepreneurial environment.

“I am looking forward to both looking after the needs of clients but also being a key member of the firm’s private client tax team and developing the firm’s service and offering to meet the needs of individuals and owner managed businesses now and in the future.”

Cockman will be working with and looking after clients from across Streets’ 23 offices, including those in London and the South East, the East of England, the South West, the Midlands and Yorkshire.

James Anderson and Issy McParland

Alphageek Digital, based in Friar Gate, Derby, has hired senior PPC specialist James Anderson and client success manager Issy McParland, to bring the agency’s headcount to 24.

Anderson has joined the team from Center Parcs head office, in Newark, where he was employed as a PPC executive, after completing a digital marketing apprenticeship in Nottingham.

He said: “At Center Parcs I worked alongside an agency and although I was great at the theory and analytical side, I wanted a more hands-on approach, which I’m excited about tackling here.

“I’ll be working with between 15 and 20 clients which is really exciting and was a big draw for me. Center Parcs had very strict brand guidelines and I will have the opportunity to be much more creative here, which is exactly what I was looking for.

“Alphageek Digital is an impressive business, the technical talent is second-to-none and it is an ambitious company – I’m really looking forward to growing alongside them.”

McParland has four years’ experience working for a fast-paced technology firm as a programme manager.

She said: “In my previous role I was a programme manager which was a process driven role which involved doing a little bit of everything – from buying to project and account managing.

“I wanted to be more creative and my focus with Alphageek is to be the middleman between our clients and the technical side. I have a business and marketing degree from Sheffield Hallam, so this will allow me to exploit those skills too.

“There is a great culture here at Alphageek; it’s a fun environment, but everyone is highly motivated and very skilled in their specialisms. They also have some really cool clients, so I’m thrilled to have joined the team.”
