Luxury holiday home plans revealed for former law firm HQ

The former Fraser Brown offices in Nottingham

More details have emerged around the plans to turn the former historic headquarters of a Nottingham law firm into a luxury holiday home.

As we exclusively revealed earlier this week, plans have been submitted to transform the derelict former offices of Fraser Brown at 84 Friar Lane into hospitality accommodation.

The driving force behind the project is the Castle House brand, which has a similar luxury holiday “private getaway” home in the historic Castle Quarter area of Nottingham, just yards from 84 Friar Lane.

It has been converted to high-end accommodation for corporate or leisure accommodation.

George Henshaw, who is dealing with the planning and architectural aspects of the transformation of 84 Friar Lane, told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We think there is a real shortage of high-end accommodation for larger groups in Nottingham city centre and given the significant investment in Nottingham Castle that some of the under-utilised but attractive buildings in the city should be brought into an active use that complements the wider tourism offering.

“84 will be restored to a high standard and will be brought under the Castle House brand.”

The Grade II Victorian offices at 84 Friar Lane had been the HQ of a former incarnation of Fraser Brown since around 1910. They were vacated shortly after Knights bought Fraser Brown in an £8.3m deal in February 2020. The building has only ever had one occupier.

The property was then sold to a Mr and Mrs Hunt in 2023 after efforts to let it as offices for 18 months had failed to raise any interest.

Castle House is being run by Hannah Ellis, who is a director at the holiday homes, residential and commercial property lettings businesses Gainsborough Leisure and Gainsborough Business space.

Ross Whiting at Innes England was the acquiring agent.
