Housebuilder acquires land to build almost 300 homes

Housebuilder Miller Homes has acquired land to develop a new phase of housing within the Middlebeck consortium project in Newark-on-Trent.

Overseen by the firm’s East Midlands region based in Derby this phase will see the construction of 281 homes, nearly half of which will be designated as affordable housing.

The plan includes 141 private homes under the name “Miller Homes at Middlebeck,” while Platform Housing Group will handle the marketing of the 140 affordable properties.

There will be a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedroom homes, with close to 50% designated as affordable housing.

Led by Urban&Civic the project includes a wide range of developments over 694 acres, including residential, commercial, and open spaces.

The master plan aims to deliver approximately 2,600 new homes, along with essential amenities like a primary school, employment space, and sports facilities.

Tom Roberts, regional operations director at Miller Homes East Midlands, said: “Miller Homes is delighted to have joined the Middlebeck consortium and we are looking forward to beginning construction work to deliver a significant number of new homes as part of the wider project which is transforming this part of the East Midlands into a go-to destination.

“Our land purchase benefits from a planning consent which enables Miller Homes to start construction work on the development, which will ultimately provide 281 of the homes at Middlebeck alongside our affordable homes partner, Platform Housing Group. The focus now turns to swiftly making a start on-site to begin creating our development when we can. Further details will be released on our homes in the coming months.”
