Property developer gets green light to expand business park
Clowes Developments’ 20-acre Stud Brook Business Park in Castle Donington has received planning approval for two new projects to boost the park’s offering.
The new projects will include a Sainsbury’s convenience store and a Starbucks drive-through. It will feature office, industrial, and amenity units ranging from 1,500 to 45,000 sq ft.
Phase one of the project is already underway, with units 2-7 expected to be completed by Q1 2025.
The new Sainsbury’s store, spanning 4,300 sq ft, and a 2,000 sq ft Starbucks drive-through will serve the local community and the business park’s employees.
The Sainsbury’s Local will offer a range of food and drink, including fresh bakery items and groceries, and will also feature Click & Collect for Argos, Habitat, and Tu Clothing.
The store will create 18 new jobs and support local causes by redistributing surplus food through its partnership with Neighbourly.
James Richards, development director at Clowes Developments, said: “After a period of extensive assessments with East Midlands Airport and a thorough planning application process with North West Leicestershire District Council, it is great to finally start constructing Stud Brook Business Park. Sainsbury’s is a nationally recognised convenience store which will be an asset to the development. Since Sainsbury’s agreed the lease, the unit has been sold to a private pension fund.”
