Sportswear brand joins the lineup at Derbion
Sportswear brand Castore is gearing up to open its new store at Derbion shopping centre.
The brand has signed a 10-year lease for a 1,771 sq ft unit next to Foot Locker on the centre’s second level.
Founded in Manchester in 2015, Castore outfits sports teams like the England Cricket Team, Red Bull, and McLaren Formula One, and provides football shirts for clubs including the Republic of Ireland, Rangers, Bayer Leverkusen, and Everton.
Known for its sportswear, the brand will offer a range of men’s and women’s clothing, including team-branded apparel.
The new store is set to open in August and will add to Derbion’s existing sports and fitness lineup, which includes JD, Lids, Sports Direct, and Foot Locker.
The announcement follows JD’s plan to expand its unit at Derbion to 20,175 sq ft, featuring brands like Adidas, The North Face, Jordan, and Nike.
Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion said: “Castore has significantly expanded in recent years in response to increasing demand from customers seeking high quality performance sportswear. It is fantastic that Castore will join the lineup at Derbion, and with the recent opening of JD’s new flagship store, we have first-hand experience of how leading sportswear brands continue to attract a wide array of shoppers to Derbion.”
“Castore’s arrival is a testament to Derbion’s progressive leasing strategy which has reaffirmed the centre’s position as the East Midlands’ premier retail and leisure destination. The strategy has been effective, customers are responding with their feet and Derbion’s reputation is helping it to attract more big-name brands such as Castore.”
Pete Alecock, commercial director at Castore, said: “We are excited to be opening our latest store at Derbion as we look to bring our quality array of sportswear to Derby shoppers. Since launching in 2015, we have undertaken a large expansion which has included opening stores in thriving retail destinations across the UK. Derbion’s fantastic array of big name brands means it brings in shoppers from across the East Midlands making it the perfect place for our first store in the city.”
