Environmental division of agri-tech firm secures international order
Light Science Technologies Holdings (LSTH) controlled environment agriculture division (CEA) has secured a £123,000 order from agronomic solutions specialist Richel Group for its CEA nurturGROW lighting.
The customised lighting will be installed in a new aeroponic glasshouse in Germany, spanning 0.5 hectares and aims to support the year-round growth of leafy greens.
Delivery of the project will start in January 2025, with revenue from the order recognised in the first half of 2025.
Light Science’s CEA division, which generated approximately £500,000 in revenue by July 2024, offers a range of products for commercial growers, including control systems and grow lights.
The Derby-based firm compromises three divisions, which includes controlled environment agriculture (“CEA”), contract electronics manufacturing (“CEM”) and passive fire protection (“PFP”).
Simon Deacon, CEO of LSTH, said: “This substantial order highlights the increased interest in our CEA solutions as we aim to convert our growing global quoted sales pipeline. We’re delighted to support Richel, who are experts in commercial horticulture, as they seek to improve their clients’ crop output and consistency.
“Global food and water shortages, growing populations, climate change, consumer habits and government policy are all forcing producers to look at the way we grow food. We believe our CEA division is well positioned to take full advantage of the substantial long-term commercial opportunities in this market.”
