Major fire breaks out on Nottingham industrial estate
People are being asked to avoid Colwick Industrial Estate in Netherfield, Nottingham, this morning after a major fire broke out at around 2am on Friday morning (August 30) at the Enva waste collection plant on Private Road 4.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service had a substantial presence at the popular industrial estate with firefighters tackling the blaze overnight and into Friday morning.
A statement from the Service said: “We have now scaled down this incident. A couple of appliances remain at the scene damping down and they will continue to do so for the next couple of hours.
“Thank you for your patience whilst we have been dealing with this incident over night.
Earlier on Friday morning, the Fire and Rescue Service had asked that people avoid the area where possible and consider alternative routes this morning when travelling.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said it would be liaising with businesses on the estate as they open on Friday morning.
The statement added: “We are aware that some of the surrounding businesses will start to open soon – we will be working with them throughout the day to ensure safety precautions are in place when they are operating.”
