East Midlands Railway unveils interior of new £400m fleet
East Midlands Railway (EMR) has unveiled a first look at the interiors of its new £400m Aurora fleet.
Built by Hitachi, the bi-mode trains will enhance the travel experience on the Midland Main Line, with rollout planned for 2025 through 2026.
EMR worked closely with Derby-based DG DESIGN to source and adapt a brand-new seat design for the trains.
The seats also feature practical additions, including power and USB points, legroom, coat hooks, seat-back tables for all airline-style seats, cabin-bag storage under each seat, and overhead luggage space.
Rachel Turner, head of new trains at East Midlands Railway said: “We’re really excited to share new photos of the interiors of our bi-mode fleet as the fleet progresses through testing and towards being passenger-ready. We have worked closely with Hitachi to ensure our trains offer customers the features and comfort they expect from a modern train.”
