Administrator revealed at Queen’s Award winner

A Leicestershire business that snared investment on Dragons’ Den and won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise has collapsed into administration.
Quantuma was appointed as administrator to Sublime Science, a firm which aimed to highlight the fun side of science to children at parties and other events, on September 16.
The move comes less than a week after the company filed a notice of intention to appointment administrators through law firm Squire Patton Boggs.
Marc Wileman founded Sublime Science with a small Prince’s Trust loan back in 2008 when he was just 22. The firm has since won a Netmums Kids Party Award.
In 2015, Dragons’ Den star Sarah Willingham invested in the firm when Wileman pitched on the show.
In 2018, Wileman sold 100% of his equity in the firm, stepping down as the company’s director, after it was bought by private equity investor Hyphen Capital.
According to its latest available accounts, made up to the end of October 2023 Sublime Science employed 13 people and had total assets less current liabilities of £340,820. Net profits for the year stood at £1.8m.
Sublime Science’s sister company, Science Boffins, has also appointed Quantuma as administrator.
