Hardy reveals reasons for selling The Nottinghamshire

Alan Hardy, the former owner of the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, has opened up to TheBusinessDesk.com over the reasons for selling the business – and his plans for the future.
Hardy sold The Nottinghamshire to The Club Company last week in a deal advised upon by Duncan & Toplis and Roythornes.
However, he said it wasn’t an easy decision to let his baby go.
“The reason I sold the club can be derived from a mixture of many things which is why it took me six weeks to decide,” said Hardy.
He added: “From a personal perspective, all three of my children are playing sport at elite level and are needing more and more of my time and support.
“From a professional perspective, the business has never been in better shape. The proposition is well set, the whole team from top to bottom is operating at a high level, and we are smashing a very aggressive budget.
“Standing still is going backwards so I’ve in all seriousness I’ve probably taken the business as far as I could. It’s time for fresh eyes, new ideas and a different voice.”
Never one to shy away from the limelight, Hardy already has plans for life post-The Nottinghamshire.
He told us: “I still have five other businesses that are operating successfully so initially I’ll be spending some quality time doing some recalibration with them.
“But come the Spring, there will be some new exciting stuff that I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into. Plans, negotiations and investments are still very much at an embryonic stage. Plus I’m too young to retire yet anyway!”
