Former rugby stars score first premises for furniture business

Waller & Wood Woodworks, founded by former Northampton Saints players Tom Wood and Alex Waller, has secured its first commercial premises to expand its wooden furniture business.

Bromwich Hardy has helped secure a 3,820 sq ft unit at 97 St James Mill Road in Northampton for the company at a cost of £383,500.

Tom Wood, a back row specialist, earned 50 caps for England and played for Worcester Warriors and Northampton Saints before retiring in June 2022.

Prop Alex Waller retired in March 2024 after making a club-record 370 appearances over 15 years and captaining the team.

Tom Bromwich, managing partner of Bromwich Hardy said: “One of the issues faced by all professional sports people is what they do when they call it a day in their chosen sport. Some will gravitate towards coaching but in this case, Tom and Alex have carved out a new career.

“The pieces they produce are stunning and exclusive. I do not doubt that this is a business that can only continue to grow, and it was a privilege to be able to help them acquire their first commercial premises for Waller & Wood Woodworks.”

Hadland Chartered Surveyors represented the vendor, with Helen Carville from Max Engel & Co advising them.

James Williams at Moore & Tibbits Solicitors in Warwick acted for Waller & Wood Woodworks.
