First look inside new Nottingham retro arcade bar

Retro arcade bar NQ64 is set to open its doors on Thurland Street in Nottingham this Friday (March 28), bringing a blend of gaming nostalgia, neon decor and arcade-inspired cocktails.
Doors officially open at 4pm on Friday 28th and the first 100 people through the door will get an exclusive bag of freebies worth over £50 including an exclusive NQ64 t-shirt.
The Nottingham bar will debut a brand-new drinks menu that has not been launched at any of the bar’s other sites. Featuring a mix of crowd pleasers and exciting new creations, highlights include the indulgent Peach on the Beach, a twist on the classic; the rum-based Quick Revive; and a new addition to the line-up the Jurassic Marg, a margarita made with El Jimador tequila, sour cherry, watermelon, green chilli and served with a lime sherbet rim.
The bar has also collaborated with local Nottingham brewery Neon Raptor to create a bespoke cherry and grapefruit sour called the Deadshot Daquiri, which will be available exclusively at NQ64.
Alongside the arcade classics such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and The Simpsons, there are also a number of “free play” consoles available including a bespoke “wall boy”, a Nintendo Game Boy linked to a big screen.
The venue also includes a private dance mat room, complete with viewing windows for spectators, and an elevated Guitar Hero Hell Room is designed for those looking to unleash their inner rock star.
Matt Robson, director of NQ64, said: “Nottingham we’re finally ready for you. The team have been grafting to transform this stunning old building and put an NQ64 stamp on it. We’re kicking the weekend off on Friday with some treats for the first 100 people through the door, but the party carries on with DJ’s all weekend. I’ll see you for a cheeky one at the bar!”
Nottingham marks the twelfth NQ64 location; other sites include Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and London.
