On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Paula Clarke and Yasmin Rehman

Yasmin Rehman, CEO of Juno Women’s Aid, Nottingham’s largest domestic abuse organisation, is stepping down after more than six years in the role.

Having worked in the women’s sector for 40 years, Yasmin has led Juno through significant growth and change.

She will be succeeded by her deputy, Paula Clarke, who will take over as interim CEO from April 1.

Clarke joined Juno in 2011 and has played a key role in the charity’s success and is committed to continuing its vital work supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Reham said: It’s not an easy job. It’s damned hard work, and it can get quite frustrating. But I’ve worked with the best team, the most amazing women and incredible statutory and voluntary sector partners. I’m really sad to go – I will miss it but I know I’m leaving Juno in good hands. And I will still be working in the field of violence against women and girls in some capacity.”

Clarke said: “I’m looking forward to keeping the ship steady and building on the opportunities that Yasmin’s leadership has given us. All our survivors will continue to receive an excellent quality service. I’m interested in expanding our children and young people’s services, especially with the Domestic Abuse Act highlighting children as victims in their own right. We have developed our Juno Voices youth forum to give young people that survivor’s voice.

“I will really miss Yasmin. She might seem quite unassuming with the softest voice but you listen to what she says because it comes from her wisdom, experience and passion for the sector. As I described her to someone recently, she is a real powerhouse of a person.”

Andrew Byrne, group property development director of The Devonshire Group, has been named the new chair of Destination Chesterfield.

His appointment was officially announced at Celebrate Chesterfield 2025, where business leaders and key stakeholders gathered to discuss the town’s future.

Taking over from Peter Swallow, who led the initiative for more than a decade, Byrne will guide the direction of Destination Chesterfield, working with the board to drive investment, support businesses, and raise the town’s profile.

Speaking at the event, he said: “I am delighted to step into the role as Chair of Destination Chesterfield, and I’m excited to bring my passion for the local area to continue our progress.

“I’m looking forward to working with partners to highlight the new East Midlands Investment Zone, which will bring highly skilled jobs in green industries and advanced manufacturing to the Staveley area.

“We are also evolving into a town to experience – through the revitalisation of our high streets in Chesterfield and Staveley, an extension to Chesterfield Canal, and the ongoing development of the groundbreaking visitor attraction, PEAK Gateway Resort.

“We continue to build quality housing for residents in Chesterfield, including increasing the number of homes around our town centre. My priority, and that of the Destination Chesterfield partnership, is to ensure this continued regeneration benefits residents and bolsters our communities, as we continue to promote Chesterfield as a prime location to live, work, visit and invest.”
