Maintenance and industrial supplier sold as US owner exits UK market
Grainger has agreed to sell its UK Cromwell business to global private equity firm Aurelius, as the US-based maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplier focuses on its North American and Japanese markets.
Leicester-headquartered Cromwell, founded in 1970, has grown from a local tool distributor into one of the UK’s largest independent MRO suppliers, with annual sales exceeding £230m. Grainger acquired the business in 2015 for £310m when it employed around 2,150 staff.
