HSE supports Rolls-Royce hydrogen jet engine breakthrough
Scientists at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have played a key role in a landmark hydrogen aviation trial with Rolls-Royce.
The partnership supported the successful test of a jet engine operating at full take-off power on 100% hydrogen fuel.
The test forms part of a wider Rolls-Royce hydrogen aviation programme aimed at exploring the feasibility of zero-carbon flight, and is being positioned as a significant step in the development of alternative propulsion technologies for the aerospace sector.
