Motorpoint’s FY27 outlook hits the road running

Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham

Motorpoint Group is reporting stronger-than-expected trading for the year to date, with increased vehicle volumes and improved margins supporting a more positive outlook for FY27.

The independent omnichannel vehicle retailer has also highlighted continued progress across its technology, data and AI strategy, alongside favourable vehicle supply conditions.

Stronger trading has prompted Motorpoint to increase its expectations for full-year profit before tax (PBT), with the group now forecasting a range of £9.8m to £10.8m for FY27, covering the financial year ending 31 March 2027.

The revised outlook is ahead of current market expectations of between £9.1m and £10.0m. At the midpoint of the new guidance range, Motorpoint is forecasting PBT growth of around 37% compared with FY26, following an 82.9% increase in PBT last year.

Continued investment in technology, data and artificial intelligence has been an important part of the group’s recent progress. These capabilities are helping to improve operational efficiency, support decision-making and strengthen customer engagement, while also contributing to higher margins and increased profitability per vehicle.

Progress across these initiatives is giving the business greater confidence in its ability to deliver further operational improvements and support sustainable growth.

Favourable vehicle supply conditions are providing an additional boost to the outlook. Greater confidence around vehicle availability has enabled Motorpoint to progress its expansion plans, with an additional retail site now secured and expected to open in spring 2027.

Expansion of the retail network will support Motorpoint’s wider omnichannel strategy, combining its physical locations with its digital sales proposition to serve customers across the UK.

With sales volumes ahead of expectations, margins improving and its technology and AI strategy gaining momentum, Motorpoint enters the remainder of FY27 with increased confidence in its trading performance.

Further details will be provided in the company’s scheduled first-half trading update in early October 2026, giving investors and the wider automotive sector greater insight into performance and expectations for the remainder of the financial year.
