A Derbyshire school uniform retailer serving more than 40 schools has been acquired by a Worcestershire clothing specialist.

Uniformality, which operates from Nottingham Road in Borrowash, has been bought by Regency Clothing for an undisclosed sum.

The business has been trading for more than a decade and supplies uniforms to nurseries, primary and secondary schools across Derbyshire.

Regency will retain the Uniformality brand and has invested around £20,000 in refurbishing its Borrowash store, including new changing rooms, a booking desk and a free drinks area for customers.

The acquisition will also give Uniformality access to Regency Clothing’s warehouse capacity, allowing the business to hold more stock as it looks to expand the number of schools it supplies.

Regency has also recruited additional warehouse staff to support the growth of the combined operation.

Sue Hicks, operations director at Regency Clothing, said: “Uniformality has been a hugely successful and trusted business since it opened ten years ago. It has become the school uniform provider of choice for hundreds of families from across Derbyshire and beyond.

“The store is known for providing excellent quality uniforms for many nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. That’s something we want to build on and, aside from a major shop refurbishment, our warehousing means we can keep more stock and prices low to support parents, especially during the cost-of-living crisis.

“We can also serve customers quickly, especially during the busy lead-up to new term times.”

Hicks said the company was seeing increasing demand as more schools signed up and was targeting further growth in Derbyshire and Worcestershire.

She added: “We have also taken on more warehouse staff and that will only benefit Uniformality’s customers in terms of service and cost. It’s a really exciting opportunity and time for us.”
