Slimming World hires award-winning chef to drive recipe box expansion
Slimming World has appointed award-winning chef Martyn Lee to lead its recipe box subscription business as it looks to expand beyond its traditional membership base.
Lee has joined the Alfreton-headquartered weight management business as head of Slimming World Kitchen, which recently marked its second anniversary.
The company is looking to broaden the subscription service’s appeal to people outside its existing Slimming World membership.
Lee has more than 20 years’ experience in food innovation and product development, including senior roles at Tesco and Waitrose.
He was named Development Chef of the Year at the 2024 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards and previously helped develop a runny-centred Scotch egg which won a Grocer Gold Award.
Lee said: “What attracted me to Slimming World Kitchen was the opportunity to work with a trusted brand that is helping people achieve their goals without ever losing sight of what matters most, delicious food.
“Slimming World Kitchen is in a unique position because we can help people discover new flavours, build confidence in the kitchen and enjoy great food, while knowing every meal is supporting them on their weight-loss journey.”
In his new role, Lee will oversee the development of the service’s menus as Slimming World attempts to increase its customer base.
Allison Brentnall, director of food and publications at Slimming World, said: “Martyn shares our passion for spreading the word on how delicious food can be while still delivering your health goals.
“His experience, creativity and track record of innovation make him an excellent fit for Slimming World Kitchen and the ambitious plans in place to grow the service.
“We’re really excited for Martyn to help us reach new audiences.”
