Northants civils company collapsed owing £200,000
A Northants civil engineering firm went into administration in May owing over £200,000, according to papers seen by TheBusinessDesk.com.
The vast majority – nearly £170,000 – was owed Lionverge Civils, which called in administrators from London-based Moorfields Advisory, to HMRC.
The company went into administration after experiencing a fall-off in work from its main customer Network Rail, which saw Lionverge Civils make a loss of £180,000 last year.
Measures such as cutting workers’ hours in half were tried to save the company, but Lionverge said its pension deficit had increased “significantly” from £1.63m to £2.69m.
The Brackmills-based firm ran more than eight welding teams from smaller regional offices providing a 24-hour response service to help maintain the rail infastructure.
