Over 200 jobs at risk as care home operator enters administration

Wycar Leys' Farm Field View home in Bilshthorpe

A Nottinghamshire care home operator has gone into administration putting 231 jobs at risk.

Taylor Hogan Healthcare operates eight care homes for adults with learning disabilities, autism and other severe, complex needs in Bilsthorpe, Bulwell and Burton-on-Trent. The firm has seen losses at its Wycar Leys-branded homes of £100,000-plus for the last two financial years, a decreased occupancy rate and a loss of revenue due to local government budget cuts.

Wycar Leys, which turned over around £3m a year, was also paying back £41,500 in bank fees a month.

Administrators from Moorfields Advisory in London were appointed to take over the running of the company yesterday (Wednesday).

Director, Ian Taylor, had agreed to finance the business should it be required in order to meet agreed forecasts. The firm’s latest accounts say that he was in regular contact with the company’s bankers.

Wycar Leys is part of the Taylor Hogan Healthcare Group which made a profit £347,501 last year, but that business too has now been put into administration.

Administrators from Moorfields were not available for comment as we went to press.
