A two-site pharmacy group in Leicestershire has changed hands in a deal involving both a high-volume distance-selling operation and a community pharmacy.<\/p>\n
The Somerby Pharmacy Group, which operates from branches in Oadby and Kibworth, was sold to an investor based in East Anglia for an undisclosed sum.<\/p>\n
It was handled by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.<\/p>\n
The Oadby branch operates as a Distance Selling Pharmacy (DSP), dispensing more than 10,000 items each month, while the Kibworth site serves as a traditional community pharmacy, processing around 12,000 items monthly.<\/p>\n
The businesses were previously owned by Romin Tayub, who had operated the pharmacies for six years and three years respectively, before deciding to sell in order to spend more time travelling with his young family.<\/p>\n
The sale followed a confidential marketing process and ultimately resulted in both businesses being included within a single transaction.<\/p>\n
Carl Steer, director of Pharmacy at Christie & Co said: \u201cInitially, we were instructed to identify a purchaser for the highly successful Distance Selling Pharmacy (DSP) in Oadby. The business generated significant interest from a diverse range of potential buyers, and a sale was promptly agreed with a family investment company based in Norfolk.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the course of negotiations, the Kibworth pharmacy was incorporated into the transaction, and the sale of both businesses was subsequently completed.
