A \u00a31.94m funding package has been secured by Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) to support the delivery of 159 affordable homes across four East Midlands developments.<\/p>\n
The investment, awarded through the East Midlands Combined County Authority\u2019s Brownfield Housing Fund, will help bring forward housing schemes in Newark, Arnold, Warsop and Chesterfield, providing a mix of affordable rent, social rent, shared ownership and supported accommodation.<\/p>\n
The funding will support the redevelopment of brownfield sites and help address growing demand for affordable housing across the region.<\/p>\n
Mayor of the East Midlands Claire Ward said: \u201cEveryone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. That’s why I’m supporting organisations like NCHA to bring long-empty sites back into use to deliver high-quality homes for local people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese four projects are powerful examples of how we’re turning our vision for inclusive growth into reality. The developments will provide much-needed housing for affordable rent, shared ownership, and supported accommodation for young people, helping more people across our region access the homes they need.\u201d<\/p>\n
The largest scheme supported by the funding is NCHA\u2019s Bowbridge Road development in Newark, where 88 affordable homes are being built on a site that had remained vacant for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
It will deliver a mix of energy-efficient flats, family homes and bungalows, alongside supported accommodation designed to help young people develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently.<\/p>\n
The funding will also support Leivers Court in Arnold, a 30-home development providing accommodation for people who need care and support while enabling independent living.<\/p>\n
In Chesterfield, the Old Whittington scheme will deliver 22 homes, including 16 social rent properties and six shared ownership homes, while Burns Lane in Warsop will create 19 homes, including affordable rent and shared ownership opportunities.<\/p>\n
All homes are being designed to meet high energy-efficiency standards, helping residents reduce energy costs while supporting sustainability goals.<\/p>\n
