Independent funeral services provider A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service has expanded its regional footprint with the opening of two new funeral homes in Retford and Tuxford, following the acquisition of north Nottinghamshire business G.D. Hall Funeral Directors.<\/p>\n
The move marks another milestone in the growth strategy of the fifth-generation family-owned business, which is continuing to strengthen its presence across the East Midlands through targeted acquisitions and investment in local communities.<\/p>\n
The new Retford and Tuxford branches will be officially unveiled through a community open day, welcoming local families and introducing the teams who will support funeral services across the area.<\/p>\n
Existing G.D. Hall employees and vehicles have transferred into the A.W. Lymn business, ensuring continuity for families who have relied on the funeral director\u2019s services.<\/p>\n

The acquisition forms part of A.W. Lymn\u2019s wider expansion strategy, designed to increase its operational reach while maintaining its focus on locally delivered, family-led funeral care.<\/p>\n
The Retford and Tuxford investment follows a series of acquisitions over the past three years, including Serene Funeral Planning in early 2025, Hammerwich Cemetery and Crematorium in Staffordshire in 2024, and M.A. Mills in Radcliffe-on-Trent in 2023.<\/p>\n
With a team of more than 150 employees and 27 funeral homes across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, A.W. Lymn is among the UK\u2019s largest independent funeral businesses.<\/p>\n
The company expects the new north Nottinghamshire locations to support around 300 funerals annually and establish a dedicated A.W. Lymn service area within Mansfield.<\/p>\n
