Winvic Construction has completed the civils and infrastructure programme, along with two major industrial buildings, at SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton.<\/p>\n
Working on the site over the past five years, Winvic delivered a wide-ranging package of infrastructure, including the 2.6km Roade Bypass, improvements to Junction 15 of the M1, a 35-acre Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) and extensive enabling works to support the wider logistics park.<\/p>\n
The contractor also completed two distribution facilities, including a 2.3m sq ft warehouse for a major online retailer and a 1.2m sq ft logistics facility for Yusen Logistics, the first operational building at the park.<\/p>\n
Once complete, SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton will provide up to 5m sq ft of industrial and logistics space and is expected to support around 7,450 jobs.<\/p>\n
Winvic said the project had also delivered significant social and economic benefits during construction, including employing 793 local people, creating 42 apprenticeship, placement and work experience opportunities, and spending more than \u00a360m with local subcontractors.<\/p>\n
The development has also been independently verified as Net Zero Carbon in Construction, with carbon reduction measures including material reuse, lower-carbon concrete and recycled rail materials.<\/p>\n
