The charitable arm of housebuilder Barratt Redrow has appointed John Hannaford as its new chair of trustees, strengthening its leadership team as it enters the next stage of development.

Hannaford, who brings more than 18 years of experience across the construction and charity sectors, took up the role on 1 July, succeeding Mark Rolfe, who had chaired the board since 2021.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is headquartered in Coalville, works with national and local partners to support children, young people and communities facing disadvantage across the UK.

Since 2021, the foundation has supported more than 100,000 young people through its charitable programmes.

In his new role, Hannaford will oversee the foundation’s strategy and help guide its work with charity partners as it continues to expand its impact.

Hannaford said: “I am very much looking forward to joining the Barratt Redrow Foundation and working with a great team that is dedicated to creating thriving communities nationwide. I’m passionate about supporting organisations that help alleviate disadvantage, particularly among young people, and I’m proud that the foundation is making a real difference in this area.

“I look forward to continuing this important work and supporting our national charity partners, where our funding is helping to drive meaningful impact.”

Hannaford has worked with Barratt Redrow for more than two decades and brings experience from a career spanning finance, investment banking and charitable governance.

He previously worked as an accountant and investment banker at Credit Suisse and has also served as a trustee for four charities.

Andy Button-Stephens, head of the Barratt Redrow Foundation said: “I am delighted to welcome John to the role of chair. His experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our impact and support even more disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

“We are committed to building on our long-standing charitable giving at a time when resources for many are increasingly stretched. John’s knowledge, passion and perspective will be instrumental as we deepen our impact and deliver our future strategy focused on thriving young people.”
