Bramble Foods is set to create 50 new jobs following the opening of its new national distribution centre in Market Harborough.

The Leicestershire-based manufacturer and distributor has relocated to Lancaster House at Airfield Business Park, a purpose-built 67,000 sq ft facility that will become its main UK distribution hub.

The move is expected to support the next phase of growth for Bramble Foods, which currently employs around 300 people and is aiming to increase its workforce to 350 over the coming years.

The new site will provide increased warehousing and distribution space, helping the business manage demand from customers across the UK while supporting the expansion of brands including Whitakers Chocolates, The Bay Tree and Lings.

Its official opening was marked by employee Steve Heighton, who celebrated 50 years working with the Foster family and Bramble Foods, alongside managing director Tony Foster, finance director Chris Neville, sales director Ken Osborne and Councillor Harrison Fowler, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources.

Heighton said: “Having worked with the Foster family for over 50 years, I’m honoured to have been asked to officially open our new distribution facility. It marks another important milestone in what has been a truly enjoyable and rewarding career. Seeing our continued growth and investment in the future and my hometown is something I’m incredibly proud to be part of, and I look forward to seeing what we achieve in the years ahead.”

Tony Foster, managing director of Bramble Foods said: “The opening of Lancaster House marks a significant milestone in the continued growth of Bramble Foods. On top of the additional space, we’re investing in our people, improving the service we provide to our customers and creating the capacity to support the next stage of our journey.

“What makes today particularly special is that the official opening was carried out by Steve Heighton, who is celebrating 50 years of service with our business. Steve embodies everything Bramble Foods stands for – loyalty, commitment and family values – and it’s only fitting that he helped mark the beginning of this exciting new chapter.”

The new facility has been developed by Leicestershire County Council at Airfield Business Park, which has expanded this year from 81,000 sq ft to 190,000 sq ft to accommodate further business growth.

Built on the former Market Harborough Airfield, Lancaster House reflects the site’s aviation heritage, with its name paying tribute to the Lancaster Bomber.

Sustainability features at the facility include solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, enhanced insulation and modern construction methods. The building has achieved an EPC rating of A+ and includes a 50kW solar array expected to save between 45,000 and 50,000 kWh of energy each year.

Founded as a family business, Bramble Foods has grown into one of the UK’s leading fine food manufacturers and wholesalers, supplying independent retailers, farm shops, garden centres, visitor attractions and national retailers with confectionery, preserves, bakery products, gifting and seasonal ranges.

The new distribution centre is designed to improve operational efficiency, increase stockholding and provide the infrastructure needed to support further growth.
