A Nottinghamshire fishing bait and tackle manufacturer has reported improved profitability after a year of steady trading and stronger margins.

Rapala VMC UK, formerly Dynamite Baits, increased turnover to £4.3m in the year to 31 December 2025, while after-tax profit rose to £228,000, up from £10,000 in the previous reporting period.

The business said sales of fishing bait, tackle and accessories increased by 1%, while gross margin improved to 32%, reflecting stronger trading performance.

The company manufactures fishing bait and also wholesales fishing tackle and accessories across the UK and international markets.

In its strategic report, the company said growth had been supported by investment in marketing, particularly through social media and in-store promotions, alongside continued product development and customer service.

The business also highlighted the importance of maintaining reliable product supply and managing the impact of supplier pricing and import costs, particularly following Brexit. It said customer retention, competition and supply chain continuity remain among its key business risks.

Despite the improved results, the accounts show the business remains reliant on financial support from its parent company, Rapala VMC Oyj, which has provided a letter of support covering at least the next 12 months as the company continues to operate as a going concern.
