Leicester-based law firm Merali Beedle is expanding into Birmingham, bringing together a senior commercial property team as it builds its presence across the Midlands.

Established less than two years ago, the Leicester office has become the foundation for the firm’s regional growth. A new Birmingham base at 103 Colmore Row will now extend its reach into the city.

Stuart Tym, Jonathan Wright, Emma Hughes and Jordan Albrighton will lead the Birmingham operation, joining Leicester-based colleagues Nisha Gohel, Amanda Rogowska, Siobhan Smyth, Minal Shah and Michelle Woolston.

Drawing on experience from firms including Knights and Wilson Browne, the combined team advises developers, landowners, investors, lenders, landlords, occupiers, housebuilders, public sector bodies and businesses.

Work spans commercial real estate and planning, with particular expertise in development, strategic land and complex property transactions. The wider offering also covers acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, investment, secured lending and asset management.

The expansion forms part of a growth strategy focused on recruiting senior lawyers rather than opening offices simply to increase its footprint.

Nico Beedle, co-founder of Merali Beedle said: “Our growth has never been about opening offices for the sake of it. We expand when we find exceptional lawyers who share our values, our commercial approach and our commitment to delivering outstanding client service. Jonathan Wright Jordan Albrighton, Stuart Tym, Emma Hughes are exactly that calibre of professionals, and we are delighted to welcome them to Merali Beedle.

“Together, they bring outstanding expertise across commercial property and planning, with particular strengths in development, strategic land and complex real estate transactions. Combined with our established Leicester team, they significantly strengthen our real estate offering across the Midlands.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the firm. We will continue to invest in exceptional people and grow thoughtfully, while remaining focused on what matters most—providing commercially focused, partner-led legal advice and building long-term relationships with our clients.”

The firm’s model is centred on senior lawyers maintaining direct relationships with clients while having access to the infrastructure and resources of the wider practice.

It reflects a broader shift within the legal sector towards consultancy and dispersed models, giving experienced practitioners greater flexibility over how they work and how they deliver services.

For clients, the approach is designed to provide direct access to senior advisers, quicker decision-making and flexible fee arrangements, alongside experience of major real estate projects across the Midlands and wider UK.

The latest appointments represent a significant addition to the firm’s Midlands property offering and underline its strategy of growing through senior talent, with Leicester remaining a key part of its regional platform.
