Caddick Construction has moved into the main construction phase of a £30m addiction treatment facility in Nottingham, following its appointment as principal contractor by Delamere Health.

The new facility is being built on the former Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue headquarters site in Bestwood and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

The 4.7-hectare development will provide 32 residential rooms, alongside treatment facilities, communal spaces, landscaped courtyards and therapy gardens.

Specialist facilities will include a wellness suite, gym, steam room, sauna, meditation room and individual and group therapy rooms.

Once operational, the clinic is expected to support up to 416 guests a year through Delamere’s addiction treatment programme.

Caddick completed pre-construction work earlier this year, including the demolition of the former fire service headquarters.

The project will also create local employment opportunities, with seven jobs and three apprenticeships. One of the roles will be specifically aimed at someone facing barriers to employment.

The contractor will also work with local schools and colleges and support a community volunteering project during the build.

Paul Sykes, regional managing director of Caddick Construction East Midlands said: “We’re pleased to be appointed as main contractor and commence work on this important new facility for Delamere Health, which will provide a high-quality environment to support individuals on their recovery journey. As a business, we take great pride in delivering projects that have a positive and lasting impact on communities, and this scheme is a fantastic example of that.

“This project is particularly significant for me as it is the first scheme to break ground since I joined the business, marking the start of a long line of successful developments, as we focus on expanding our reach and establishing a significant foothold across the East Midlands. We look forward to working closely with Delamere Health to bring this facility to life and create a centre that will support the delivery of vital treatment and care services for years to come.”

Martin Preston, founder and chief executive of Delamere said: “This is a huge moment for Delamere and for the people and families we exist to support. Our Cheshire site proved that a purpose-built environment, clinical expertise, therapeutic care, holistic practice and long-term aftercare can come together to create a different kind of recovery experience.

“Nottingham is the next step in that journey. It allows us to support more people, more families and more communities at a time when the need for high-quality addiction treatment and behavioural health support has never been clearer.”
