The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) is working with transport operators and local partners to protect bus services affected by the closure of CT4N.<\/p>\n
The operator’s shutdown has disrupted routes across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, while also resulting in job losses for its employees.<\/p>\n
As the local transport authority for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, EMCCA is assessing options for affected routes and has already secured replacement provision for some services.<\/p>\n
Claire Ward, Mayor of the East Midlands said: \u201cLosing a local bus service is life-changing, and we have taken seriously the impact that the collapse of CT4N has had. Some services have already been replaced by other operators, and we are working at pace with them and other local partners to explore every available option to further minimise disruption and keep communities connected wherever possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cI appreciate that for people employed by CT4N in this region, this will be a difficult time, and we will be happy to support people who have lost their jobs by signposting them into EMCCA\u2019s relevant employment and skills programmes. EMCCA will provide updates as soon as further arrangements can be confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the services affected are routes connecting Long Eaton and Sandiacre, Nottingham city centre and surrounding communities, and a number of links across Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n
The affected network includes services 29, 18, 18A, 18B, 18X, 19, 20, 66, 300, 510 and 511, alongside Easylink, Derbyshire Connect shopping services and Travel Derbyshire’s demand-responsive transport.<\/p>\n
Some routes have already secured alternative provision. Nottingham City Transport has taken over service 18 between Nottingham, Queen’s Medical Centre, Beeston, Bramcote and Stapleford.<\/p>\n
An hourly core service is operating initially, with the full 18, 18A, 18B and 18X timetable due to begin on 1 September.<\/p>\n
Passengers with pre-booked journeys on Easylink, Derbyshire Connect Shopping Bus and Travel Derbyshire Demand Responsive Transport should be aware that journeys scheduled after the closure will not operate.<\/p>\n
EMCCA is continuing discussions with operators over the remaining routes and said further announcements will be made as replacement arrangements are confirmed.<\/p>\n
The authority is also offering employment and skills support to former CT4N employees affected by the closure, including signposting to redundancy support and advice.<\/p>\n
The disruption comes as EMCCA continues its wider role in improving transport connectivity across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with bus provision viewed as an important part of supporting access to employment, education and local services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
