Melton Mowbray architecture practice HSSP Architects has completed a refurbishment of its headquarters as it prepares for its next phase of growth.

The redesigned studio reflects the practice’s expanding team, growing portfolio and changing approach to working, with a greater emphasis on collaboration, flexibility and client experience.

Ashby-based workplace consultancy Blueprint Interiors delivered the project, having also designed HSSP’s previous workspace more than a decade ago.

The refurbished headquarters includes a mix of working environments, ranging from quiet areas and project spaces to meeting rooms, mentoring areas and informal social spaces.

Improved flow through the studio is designed to encourage greater interaction between colleagues while giving clients a more open view of the practice’s work.

The investment comes as HSSP continues to expand, with the practice recently recruiting two additional team members.

Richard Cooper, director at HSSP Architects, said: “Our previous studio no longer reflected the business we are today or where we’re heading. We wanted a workplace that better supported our people and projects.

“Blueprint Interiors made the process straightforward. We trusted their advice throughout and the finished space has exceeded our expectations. Collaboration has increased, mentoring happens more naturally and more of our team now choose to work from the studio, plus we had a 95% rate of positive feedback from them which is fantastic.”

Rather than focusing the design around fixed desks, the new studio has been structured around different working styles and how employees use the space throughout the day.

Staff can choose environments suited to focused work, project collaboration, informal discussions or confidential meetings.

Chloe Sproston, creative director at Blueprint Interiors, said: “Our design reconfigured the space to bring HSSP’s talented team to the forefront, allowing visiting clients to experience the studio in action and appreciate the full creative environment.

“Working closely with HSSP throughout the design process meant they felt confident in every decision and it was particularly rewarding working with Richard and the team again, 13 years after delivering their previous space. The finished studio looks fantastic and is already delivering real, tangible benefits.”
