Recruitment giant relocates to established city centre location

No 1 Spinningfields

Global recruitment specialist Robert Walters is relocating to No 1 Spinningfields as the group announces senior promotions in the North.

Moving from two separate offices at 3 Hardman Street has enabled the Robert Walters team to unite and occupy 5,500 sq ft on the 12th floor of No 1 Spinningfields – the landmark 92-metre office tower.

They join professional services businesses Squire Patton Boggs, PWC, Browne Jacobson and Brown Shipley at the iconic building, benefitting from bespoke technology, design and catering features.

The move comes as Robert Walters promotes Lucy Bisset to Director of North overseeing operations from Manchester and Liverpool to Scotland and Chris Poole takes on the role of UK MD for the group.

Commenting on the office move, Chris said: “Our Manchester team are excited to be moving to one of the most iconic and well-connected office buildings in Manchester, but also delighted to be remaining in the Spinningfields district.

“The quality of our new office building and the amenities on our doorstep are unrivalled and will be instrumental in encouraging our team to return to the office.”

The changes were announced as the firm experiences a spike in vacancies.

Lucy Bisset said: “Navigating the pandemic has been challenging as employers held off from recruiting.

“However, there were areas of business such as tech and digital and finance which continued to perform well.

“As restrictions have lifted and we are seeing some people return to the office, the bounce back has been tremendous and there has been a rise in job vacancies in the region, which echoes what’s happening nationally.

“What we are experiencing is a candidate driven market where people have got multiple opportunities and the demand for certain salary levels have also increased in the last three months.

“We are using more innovative technologies to try and find good quality candidates and proactively doing a lot more from a diversity and inclusion perspective.

“We’re seeing huge opportunities for employers in the region and it’s definitely an exciting time for Robert Walters.”

OBI represented Robert Walters on the search and acquisition of its new office.

Will Lewis, founding director of OBI, said: “Robert Walters has been based in Spinningfields for 10 years now, with its growing team gradually spreading across two different floors.

“We have used this move as an ideal opportunity to connect the team across a single floor, upscale in terms of quality and gain flexibility within the new lease arrangement.”
