International roll out for We Are Indigo as it marks tenth birthday

We are Indigo team

We Are Indigo, the Manchester-based PR agency, has marked its tenth anniversary with the launch of a new music and luxury travel department and an office in Ibiza and Liverpool as it looks to expand its national and international portfolio.

The agency, founded by Gemma and Matthew Krysko, represents food, drink, hotel and entertainment venues  including Blues Kitchen, Escape to Freight Island and The Warehouse Project.

The anniversary also sees Joanne Greer, senior account director promoted to managing director and account manager Sabrina Aghina will lead on the development of the firm’s French PR strategy.

The Northern Quarter-based firm is also set on further global roll out across Amsterdam and New York, in the not-too-distant future.

2022 will see the launch of We Are Indigo’s music specialist department, a natural succession following projects with some of the biggest music venues in the industry – from The Warehouse Project’s return to Depot Mayfield this year, to the launch of Manchester’s much-loved Blues Kitchen and the legendary Escape to Freight Island.

Alongside this, Indigo’s involvement in projects that were crucial to the recovery of the music events industry has enhanced their reputation in the sector.

In September 2020, Indigo led the communications strategy and amplified awareness of the #WeMakeEvents campaign, which successfully lobbied the government to provide support for those employed in the events sector, resulting in the establishment of a Cultural Fund for creatives that kickstarted the industry’s recovery.

In April, Indigo assisted in the co-ordination of the government’s post-lockdown pilot club-night, The First Dance by CIRCUS.

Next year, the team are also set to re-launch the iconic institution Band on the Wall, with other music projects about to be announced.

The new Luxury Travel Department will service the top-end destination clients including beachfront boutique Hotel Riomar, agroturismo hotel Can Sastre, beach club Chiringuito Blue, La Llama restaurant and Izakaya Kitchen + Bar in Ibiza – and expand their portfolio.

Gemma Krysko, founder & director of We Are Indigo said: “After an extremely turbulent year, being hit very badly by the pandemic, which practically wiped out the best part of our whole business, we have now come out of it stronger by staying positive, having faith in what we do, and constantly seeking ways to put our skills to best practice during those dark times.

“The opportunity to work on The First Dance meant we were faced with doing very grown-up PR. It’s the biggest project we’ve ever worked on, with unprecedented global attention it was tough and demanding but it’s what we are passionate about, so we cracked on and it was such a beautiful moment to see people back on the dancefloor.

“On reflection, its elevated us to a level of recognition that we wouldn’t have had if the pandemic hadn’t have happened, so for those opportunities in times of darkness, I am grateful.”

She added: “10 years of We Are Indigo and we are bigger and better than ever and I can’t wait for all the exciting plans we have to come into fruition, with Joanne Greer steering the team.”
