Lee-J Walker, joint managing director at TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “We are coming out of the pandemic in confident mood and feel this is the right time to grow our footprint outside the North and Midlands.

“We are looking forward to becoming an integral part of the South West business community and share its successes, while working with companies across the region to help them develop new relationships and opportunities.”

TheBusinessDesk.com was founded 15 years ago as an online business news service and quickly established itself as a trusted part of the business communities it served.

It operates four regions – Yorkshire, North West, West Midlands and East Midlands – attracting more than 300,000 unique visitors a month to its website.

Each region has a busy and successful events schedule of awards, conferences, seminars, networking lunches and round table events, bringing its online audience together in person.

The region will be headed by editor Mike Ribbeck, who has spent 20 years working in the South West, including senior business roles at Insider, the Bristol Post and Western Daily Press.

Ribbeck has previously worked with TheBusinessDesk.com as its North West editor in 2018-2020, before he moved back to the South West at the start of the pandemic.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for both me and TheBusinessDesk.com,” said Ribbeck. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the team in the past and believe we can achieve great things in the region.

“I know from personal experience how vibrant, creative and ambitious the business community is here in the South West. We are planning to reflect and report on that entrepreneurial spirit which continues to drive the region on to greater levels of success.

TheBusinessDesk.com South West will go live in January with its daily business news service starting on Monday, January 9.
